Hello All!

It is I, Somer Bartel, the face behind UnboundFilm

Some basic facts about me: I LOVE adventuring, whether that be in my beautiful backyard, the Rockies, or traveling to many destinations near & far. I am absolutely obsessed with coffee, popcorn (any place, any way, anytime!), thrifting, reading classic literature, old movies & connecting with loved ones. I will be graduating in the spring of 2021 from Ambrose University in the Behavioural Science program, with a minor in Community Development. I am very passionate about ethical, sustainable goods & production, with dreams of working in this field one day.

I have been taking photos for many years now, but have recently discovered a renewed & deep, deep passion for film photography. As fellow artists and creatives, I am sure you all can relate to the inner-conflicts that comparison can inflict, especially as photography has really grown as an industry in the past few years. I have to admit, this was my personal struggle which unfortunately reflected in self limitations until recently, when I was reacquainted with film photography. I rediscovered this love while traveling in beautiful Australia, & so began the passion project of UnboundFilm. This rekindling has truly produced much freedom & joy within me, & for that I am grateful. Any form of art truly is a personal expression & at the end of the day, I find peace & joy in these gifts that I have been given & that is enough for me.

Style:

My goal in photography is to document the beautiful & simple moments in life. I wish to reflect the freedom and joy that I experience through the images that I capture. I love to focus on the glimpses in life, especially when I get the privilege of capturing those effortless and imperfect moments in the day to day that withhold so much universal awe & wonder.

My absolute favourite and most commonly used - 35 mm Minolta X-7A
