Black Lives Matter … Calgary
Hands Up, Don’t Shoot -
Within this march all colours can be found
And despite obvious differences, one similarity does abound
I ask you, what constant is all around?
Youth, privileged to have life without extreme grief
And yet for a cause we are passionate with belief
We march for the justice of one life lost
Because one racist murder needs to hold a greater cost
Yet, if we pursue justice through the realm of hate
I guarantee the darkness will never abate
So we must choose the narrow path of love
To allow light to penetrate from above
We serve a Lord who draws near to the distressed
And in His presence we will no longer be oppressed
For despite a world that discriminates against race
We are all equal and inseparable from within His pure grace
(Poem by my brother, Lance Bartel)
